Zesty, vibrant herbals aromas on the nose of this Californian Fume Blanc, along with aromas of lime, chives and lemongrass. Ultra-refreshing. This organic wine is made from 100% estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc grapes that are grown certified biodynamic. The vineyards are located in American Canyon and Carneros. Fume Blanc is the Californian term for Sauvignon Blanc and sometimes does receive oak aging. Pair with halibut in a lemon sauce or roast chicken.

Fumé Blanc food pairings: chicken salad, pork tenderloin, seafood, barbecued lobster.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is one of the signature wines from Mike Grgich's iconic winery. He is known for having made one of the head-turning wines from the vaunted "Judgement of Paris." At the time, he was working for Chateau Montelena.
He now has his own winery, which offers a Fumé; a North American term for a Sauvignon Blanc that is occasionally barrel fermented or aged or macerated differently to achieve an exotic, pungent wine redolent of smoke and with lots of minerality. It's a nod to Pouilly Fumé, Menetou-Salon, and Sancerre and all of the other famous appellation s in France's Loire Valley that make suave and subtle Sauvs.
Very pale lemon-green colour, with pronounced flavours of lime rind, pomello, lemoncake, chive.
It's rather full bodied for a Fumé. It clocks in at over 14% alcohol, but you don't really notice... Immediately. More assorted citrus, jalapeno, lemon juice, nectarine, and perhaps some subtle matcha tea flavours.
This wine has some crunchy green flavours that are an absolute pleasure.
