Love this! Just 11.8% alcohol yet packed with cherry notes and vibrancy, though not sweet. So balanced. Perfect aperitif or companion to poultry or seafood. This could easily become my house wine.

Reviews and Ratings

Luc Delorme rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Gray Monk has produced a wonderful Pinot Noir for 2014. Very pale ruby, this light-bodied Pinot (but not in a bad way!) is welcoming with aromas of sweet raspberries, black pepper and subtle earthy notes typical of the varietal.

Nice acidity and very low tannins make this wine very approachable and the complex flavours of raspberry, cherry, pepper and spices transition to secondary characteristics of butter and toffee shows the effort Gray Monk put into this wine.

This wine is extra dry by all measures, but the surprisingly long finish of sweet raspberries and toffee provide a sweeter impression. Great Pinot Noir for under $20, from a Canadian winemaker. I need to buy a few more bottles before it runs out. Tasted March 2017.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A really lovely and affordable Pinot Noir, from Canadian winemaking Heiss family, with select grapes grown on their Gray Monk estate.
Aromas of raspberry, cherry, dried herbs, and hints of baking spices carry through on the palate with juicy raspberry mid-palate, and a long spicy finish.
Pair with simple pasta dishes or antipasto.
Tasted April 2017.
Lise Charest Gagne rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A light body Pinot noir boasting aromas of red fruits, spices, soft earth and hints of roses. Aromatic but not jammy. Flavours of silky raspberry jelly with a smooth soft spicy finish. This wine is fruit forward and bright but not heavy, watery or acidic. Pair with some hearty spinach salads adorned with fresh figs and goat cheese. It's lovely on its own, I enjoyed it with a good book. Tasted June 2017.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From B.C.'s Okanagan Valley, a pale garnet perfumed Pinot Noir with cherry and sweet spice, repeated with touches of earth, vanilla, sweet spice and toast.
Tasted Feb. 2017
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Pale ruby colour. Aromas of tart cherry, blackberries, plums, and leather. Light bodied, silky mild tannins, with medium intensity flavours of raspberries, cranberry, and pepper. Would pair well with salmon, grilled chicken, or a lightly smoked cheese. Score 88. (S.Segard, reviewed Mar. 02, 2017)
Gray Monk began operations in 1972 and it's one of Canada's most well-known producers, let alone BC. Their 2014 Pinot Noir is earthy and floral with a lovely texture. Look for notes of sandalwood, cherry, smoke and peppery spice. Enjoy this well-priced PN with grilled salmon or herb-dressed grilled pork. - Community Wine Reviews
