Aromas of purple plum preserves and blueberries on the nose. The palate opens up luxuriously, smooth and full-bodied with more lip-smacking tasty flavours of dark fruit. An amazing wine for BBQ ribs or chicken wings. Fire up the grill! The wine is named for the gnarled 35-80 year old vines from which the grapes are sources: these vines produce fewer, but more richly flavoured fruit. Produced by Delicato Family Vineyards.

Zinfandel food pairings: BBQ ribs, chicken wings, spaghetti, pizza, lamb shank.

Reviews and Ratings

Jeffrey Johnson rated this wine as 91/100
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

An Old vine Zinfandel that shows inviting blackberry& pepper on nose, repeated on the palate. Smooth tannins and a blackberry finish.
Wineboy rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Not massive but alluring levels of Zinfandel fruit with classic sweet notes and elevated alcohol levels. A seam of acidity cuts the sweetness.
This big Californian red wine sources grapes grown on "Old Vines" which, due to their age, produce fewer clusters of grapes that are more concentrated in flavour. Pair this Zinfandel with hearty meat dishes. - Community Wine Reviews
