Reviews and Ratings

Shelley Harris rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A mellow tasting wine with overtones of pepper and spice, and leather. I have enjoyed this wine with an antipasto platter filled with cubes of Parmesan cheese, hot peppers and grilled calamari and shrimp.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A great value wine from one of my favourite Veneto producers. The nose draws you in with aromas of cherry, leather and spice. A soft, supple mouth feel with a hint of oak. The second fermentation with the amarone pomace gives it added body and flavour. My favourite pairing - squash risotto drizzled with reduction made from more of this fabulous wine!
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

India ink, dried herbs, sweet black cherries, and black bepper. The taste is similar, a little brighter than many ripasso wines, and very balanced. A nice wine for roast beef.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Interesting Val Ripasso with a bit more smokey aromas than I am used to. Cherry, black plum, dark chocolate and a hint of mocha brings it all together on the palate. Medium to full bodied with smooth tannins and a spicey finish. Pair with roasted lamb.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of fresh red berry and fruit,as well as some raisin and smoke. Red berry and some tart cherry comes through on the palate along with some oak and warm spice. Balanced, medium bodied with lighter tannin and a medium finish. Try this with lamb or braised beef.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Nov 16, 2014: Medium ruby/purple, berry, baking spice, lightly toasty. Soft round palate, medium body, red currant, cherry, spice - nice balance and medium finish with some gentle tannins. Very food friendly wine to drink over the next several years.
Astrid Young - Sommelier ISG CAPS rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Nice and ripe, violets and dried black fruit, dry straw and a bit lees-ey. Densely packed with plenty of muscle. Try it with a mushroom risotto, typical to the Veneto, and you will find ts true heritage.
A full-bodied red wine blend of Corvina and Rondinella grapes hand harvested in Marano, a hilly region of Valpolicella. Uses the Ripasso method to concentrate the wine -- re-fermentation on the skins of Amarone. Pair with hard cheeses and soft conversations. - Community Wine Reviews
