Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This rich Barolo has a very seductive leathery nose, with notes of earth, game, and licorice; the palate echoes what you sense on the nose: sour cherry, game, leather, earth, and licorice. This is a very well-balanced wine, with a good, long finish, complexity, personality, and strength. The tannins are strong, so go ahead and age it for at least another 12 years – it will only get better – I guarantee it! To drink now, decant for at least 30 minutes and enjoy it with a heavy dish bossy enough to cut through the tannins, think: grilled striploin, lamb loin, or roasted leg of lamb. Very good at its price point.
Giacosa Scarrone Vigna Mandorlo 2010 is a rich and savoury Barolo with tart cherry, ripe plum, licorice and tobacco spice flavours on the palate. Drink now and for the next 15 years. Pair with game dishes and shish kebabs. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
