A lovely, stunningly well-priced robust red wine from southern France. This is a robust blend of Syrah and Carignan grapes. Aromas of dark fruit and toasty oak. Pair with hard cheeses and hearty meat dishes.

Syrah Carignan food pairings: Indian dishes, beef, pasta, Swiss cheese, Tourtière.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Full bodied and full of flavour! Aromas of blueberry, cocoa, cedar smoke and black pepper. Structured tannins on the palate, moderate acidity and lots of blueberry, plum, and pepper on the palate, with a bit of smoke on the finish. Enjoy this with braised beef ribs in a hearty sauce.
Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Spice and herbs wrapped around a core of black fruit, some dryness with a touch of sweetness to contrast. A more modern style French wine.
From the Minervois in the Midi wine region, Gerard Bertrand (2015) is a full-bodied Syrah and Carignan red wine blend. On the palate, look for ripe smoky cherries, cracked pepper, garrigue herb flavours and a dark chocolate finish on this well-priced red. Tannins are firm. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
