Reviews and Ratings

Tania Thomas - CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A juicy fruit forward blend of mainly Sangiovese with a touch of Canaiolo, it’s bursting with aromas and flavours of ripe red cherries and raspberries with subtle floral notes and a touch of spice. Dry and medium in body, this is a sure crowd-pleaser at a fantastic price point. Great tannic structure, balanced acidity and smooth finish. Extremely food friendly, it makes a perfect match for a plate of traditional spaghetti alla Bolognese
Anthony Hillman - WSET ADV rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Medium body, food friendly, and great value. Aromas of red candied fruit with some raisin and leather. Juicy flavours of dark dried plum, black cherry, with black peppery spiciness, supported by moderate firm tannins, and with a medium length finish. Would pair well with a wide range of savoury dishes, including pasta with tomato based sauce, such as Tagliatelle with vegetable ragu.

Drink now or within the next year or two.

Tasted December 2014

Varietals - Traditional blend, principally Sangiovese, with some Canaiolo
Vinification - The grapes are de-stemmed and soft crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 25degC, and lasts around 8-10 days. Frequent remontage occurs throughout fermentation in order to extract colour and achieve soft tannins. Malolactic fermentation is carried out. The juice is left in contact with the skins for 15 days.
Ageing - The wine is aged for three months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
