Natalie's Score: 88/100

Not too heavy, but loaded with black fruit flavour and some tarry notes. Supple and full-bodied with dried herbs.

Barolo food pairings: red meats, especially braised or roasted served with a rich red wine reduction, hard cheeses such as pecorino and parmesan, the older the better, quality dark chocolate.

2011 birthday gift from the Cheungs.
Ian Anderson Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Barolo can be powerful and elegant. This had nice fruit and acidity balance with noticeable tannins. The colour was ruby red with enticing aromas of plum and cherry with some spice presenting later in the palate. A long fruit finish featured black berries and some floral notes. I found this one snuck up on me - it started with intense aroma but was not powerful. It was dry, soft and medium to full-bodied. The elegance was played out in the velvety mouth feel.

The winemaker Danilo Drocco indicates that "Barolo should reveal itself little by little, rather than all at once" and I think that's exactly what this wine has done.
Everthing is here as this 2005 is rounding into maturity. Great power, grace, complexity, and elegance. Warm, soft lingering taste, quite full and velvety with dried cherry and smoky notes on a balanced finish
