This is how wines age gracefully and to great complexity. Leather, dried herbs and Old World maturity. Full-bodied and smooth. I’m riding into the sunset now. Finishes with vanilla spice, black plum, and cigar box. Great texture on the palate, with many layers of flavour and complexity. This Tempranillo-based blend will pair well with a variety of meat dishes.

Food pairings: cloved ham, roast lamb, traditional Spanish tapas, grilled pork.

Reviews and Ratings

Marco Giovanetti rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

On the nose enticing aromas of ripe dark prunes, black cherry with cocoa and vanilla bean. In the mouth, full body with a good acidity. Retronasal flavors display aromas of tobacco, leather and black earth. Classy Elegance with well endowed tannins. Racy with a long finale
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful! Elegant, smooth, complex, well balanced with integrating alcohol. Prune, vanilla bean, tanned leather and fig. Long finish, persistence of sun dried prune. Pairs well with braised lamb shank and aged cheeses. Tasted the 2008 vintage Reserve in June 2017. 91 points. Drinking well. Great value.
This full-bodied Tempranillo wine is produced by a family that has a history 150 years in winemaking and played a seminal role in defining Rioja-style wine. - Community Wine Reviews
