Chocolate cake on the nose and palate from generous oak aging. Mocha and sweet espresso on the palate of this full-bodied, fairly smooth Italian red wine made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes. This estate has been making wine since 1427. The wine is aged in oak for 10 months. Pair with Mexican mole.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Aromas show intense black cherry, cassis and spice notes. The palate boasts a smooth balanced mouthfeel with juicy ripe red fruit notes, maturing tannins and a long mouthwatering finish. The value for quality is incredible! Enjoy this delicate medium-bodied structured Italian Cabernet Sauvignon with herb roasted chicken. Tasted Mar 2017 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Dark fruit and a very strong mushroom element. Very earthy! Plum, prune, and a touch of cassis. Leather, tobacco and old cigar chest. Spice, clove and some dustiness. Flavours are quite layered and enveloped. On the palate plum, rich creamy vanilla, caramel, and milk chocolate. Very rich and dark flavoured with some sweetness on the tongue. High acidity, off dry with some medium tannins. Lots of cedar and woody goodness in this Tuscan Cabernet. Pair with steak and mushrooms.

The Cabernet Sauvignon red wine grapes for Fattoria Di Vicchio Calvano (2014) are grown in the Colli della Toscana Centrale (hills of central Tuscany) wine region, and an area that is well-suited to the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Lots of coffee and dark chocolate on the mid-palate from this full-bodied, smooth red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes. This estate has been making wine since 1427. - Community Wine Reviews
