Natalie's Score: 90/100

The vines are planted at 550 metres above sea level. The soil is rocky. The wine is fermented in stainless steel, undergoes a full malolactic fermentation and then is aged in small American oak barrels for 6 months. Blackberry and purple plum liqueur richness and concentration on the nose and palate of this robust Chilean red wine. Full-bodied and smooth with terrific depth. This is a very meaty wine, and a terrific one at this price point. It would go beautifully with prime rib, a juicy steak or conversations well past midnight.

Carmenère food pairings: prime rib, juicy steak, game, rustic bread, turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Blackberry, and bell pepper on the nose, with rich flavors of jammy plum, cocoa, cedar and smoke. This would be perfect with a hearty beef stew on a cold day.
from Chile's Elquí Valley Falernia Reserva (2015) is a juicy, full-bodied Carmenère with rich and ripe blackberry and plum flavours. Great fruit concentration on this Carmenère done in Amarone style. This winery is 300 miles north of Santiago and is Chile's northernmost winery. The climate is semiarid with a dramatic contrasts between night and day temperatures. - Community Wine Reviews
