Vintages Wine Panel: A cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsault, Pinotage was created in the Welgevallen experimental farm in Stellenbosch in 1925. This Fairview offering has rich notes of chocolate, blackberries and licorice on the nose. Dry with a beautifully balanced and complex palate featuring deliciously ripe fruit, this wine offers great versatility. My note: A terrific wine for the money! Savoury and juicy with notes of blackberries, dark spices and anise. A wine to sip while you plan your next vacation and mentally escape wherever you are.

Pinotage food pairings: pan-fried fresh fish, grilled pork.

Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 2009 Fairview Pinotage is a medium to full bodied, FRUITY to integrated wine, with intense aromas of black currant, fresh coffee fruit, toasted oak and faint coconut and vanilla. It has a nice structure with refined tannins (decant for 1 to 2 hours for the wine to excel) and a nice long finish. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts - would be a recommended wine if it was still widely available. Tasted Jan/12.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
