From Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Escudo Reserva 2019 Carmenère is great value under $18. Fragrant with pink florals this is a dry and full-bodied juicy red, smoky with dark fruit, blueberry, green pepper and spicy flavours on the palate. Enjoy now with beef and herbed rice stuffed peppers topped with a rich, vibrant tomato sauce.

Carmenère food pairings: grilled sirloin steak, slow-braised blade roast in wine sauce, wild mushroom and leek risotto.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromas of black plums and raspberries, along with notes of graphite and smoke. Full bodied, smooth on the palate with bright acidity and some soft tannins. Berry flavours on the palate are ripe and rich, with a dry, slightly chalky finish. Enjoy with grilled beef kebabs.
