A superb southern French red wine from the Rhone Valley with gorgeous aromas of black cherry and cigar box. Guigal is one of the most respected winemakers in the region, and indeed, in the country. Full-bodied yet supple and smooth. Pair with grilled meats. Wow for the price.

Food pairings: grilled hamburger, barbecued lamb cutlets, pork chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Fruity and savoury! Lovely plush notes of black plum, cassis, baking spice, black licorice, mocha and tabacco linger on and on. This Southern Rhone red is full bodied with a scrumptious mouthfeel and a long minty mocha finish. Enjoy with braised beef lasagna. Tasted Jan 2017 - @sommsosa / bespoketastings.ca
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A wonderful complex Cotes Du Rhone. Tasted the 2012 vintage in January 2017, it is integrating well, showing well-balanced and full-bodied. Bright ruby red, declared at 14% ABV. Well structured and big in the mouth. Showing red field berry, ripe black plum, with prominent anise and savoury herb notes. Elegant and smooth, drinking well now on its own and paired very well with cured meats and bison paté. I thoroughly enjoyed this wine. Would pair well with braised red meats, tomato based baked Pasta dishes, gourmet cheeses. Rated 89/100. Great value.
