Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

The first Barefoot wine, Barefoot Bynum Burgundy was actually created in 1965 in a garage by Davis Bynum!!!
It wasn't until 1986 that founders Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey launched Barefoot Cellars with the idea that it was time for a wine that didn't take itself "too seriously" and also started a tradition of supporting non-profit fundraising events through wine. Over the past 30 years, they have made some great friends at over 3,000 charities worldwide.
In 2005, they partnered with the E&J Gallo Winery.
Barefoot Cellars have won thousands of medals and have become the most awarded wine brand in US competitions.
They craft a large selection of California wines at incredible prices.
This Zin, not to be confused with White Zinfandel is a surprisingly robust red!
In the glass, it is bright concentrated purply red with languorous, fleshy legs.
On the nose, it is expressive and intense with aromas of raisins, ripe ripe raspberries, black cherries, menthol and a touch of wet earth.
On the palate, it is expansive, explosive and big! Dry with soft tannin and acidity, it is full of currants, stewed blackberry compote and a hint of garam masala. The finish is long, smoky, alcoholic and minty.
If you are just discovering big bold and fruity reds, at this price, get yourselves at least a few bottles... It is a good one!
To serve with this wine, I made spicy beef kakftas on the bbq with rice full of peppers and home-made chicken stock, served with a cooling spiced yogurt and cucumber sauce... It was divine!!!
Yum Yum!!!

Le Barefoot Lodi Zinfandel présente des saveurs invitantes de cerises mures et de framboises sauvages ainsi que des arômes de vanille et d’épices qui sont perceptibles dans le fini attrayant et durable.
