Reviews and Ratings

Trevor Sabourin - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This is an absolutely stunning example of what the carignan grape is capable of as a single varietal wine. This is sourced from dry-farmed vines of over 75 years of age, and spent 12 months in French and American oak. At seven years of age, the wine is still a glass-staining deep ruby. The intense, well-developed bouquet offers loads of pure ripe fruit and floral aromas: dark cherry, pomegranate, dates, blackberry, violet, dried rose petals, and potpourri. Along with these are hints of menthol, clove, cinnamon, cedar, and sweet notes of black olive, balsamic, and tobacco. On the palate, the cherry, pomegranate, and plum fruit is tart and sweet all at once, and wrapped in savoury notes of clove, tobacco, balsamic, and anise. This powerful wine has high tannins and acids, which are well-integrated at this point. The fruit persists through the long finish, along with cocoa, tobacco, and warm baking spices. Beautiful. This seems like it could easily last another decade yet. Pair with red meats, game, or hard cheeses. Tasted July 6, 2016.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
