Big and rich Italian red wine with generous layers of dark plums and smoke notes and mocha. Terrific price! Good aging potential but also ready to enjoy tonight with pizza. This medium-bodied blend of 80% Montepulciano and 20% Aglianico grapes offers lots of depth of flavour in the glass. Mouth-watering and perfect for ribeye steak. VERY nice!

Food pairings: barbecued ribs, rare steak, beef stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a lively wine, brimming with gorgeous aromas and flavours of cherry, black currant, herbs, spice, and a touch of old leather and dried tobacco. Demands food. 90 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

So I read that you drink Amarone with Osso Bucco. I am on a budget and have to source out an Italian wine that would work as a substitute. This is what I discovered. A nice ruby red wine from the south of Italy. A dark fruit nose with some spice notes. The taste of plum jam and that hint of acidity which matches the Osso Bucco and Risotto.
A great value wine cost 1/2 as much as an amarone and my wife liked it. I highly recommend this wine it is an affordable drink experience.
Molise Doc Di Majo's Norante Biferno Rosso Ramitello 2012 is big and generous with dark plum, ripe fruit, smokey notes and mocha flavours. Lots of goodness here a fantastic price. Although medium-bodied, this Italian red wine has enough fruit, acidity and tannins that it can age in cellar a few more years, but great with your favourite meat pizza right now. The red wine blend for this vintages was 80% Montepulciano and 20% Aglianico. - Community Wine Reviews
