From the Marche wine region, De Angelis Offida Pecorino is great value under $15. This is a vibrant white made for rich seafood dishes and yes, Pecorino cheese. This is a great producer from the area. De Angelis are a family run winery that hand harvest, use natural yeasts, and have been recently been certified organic. Pecorino is often overshadowed by the more famous Verdicchio, which has many appellations nearby. Verdicchio is lean and crisp, while Pecorino has a softer more inviting character with aromas of fresh white peach, vanilla, spring florals and fine herb notes on the palate. This vintage is also showing soft orange and white pepper spice flavours with a gentle briny finish.

Pecorino food pairings: grilled shellfish, salads, quiches, seafood pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This Italian Pecorino from the Marche region presents medium yellow in the glass with citrus and herbal aromas. Stone fruit and mineral on the palate, smooth with light-medium acidity. this will pair well with poultry, fish and soft cheeses.
Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From a family run estate in Marche Italy, this wine is fermented with native yeasts and went through fermentation and aging in stainless steel. It is fresh, medium bodied and has a crisp acidity on the palate. A very simple and straight forward wine that is quite decent for its very affordable price point.
De Angelis Offida 2018 Pecorino is a bright, and vibrant, dry and medium-bodied white wine, with soft orange-lemon citrus, savoury herb, white pepper and fine herb flavours on the palate. Racy acidity for seafood and creamy cheeses. Chill and enjoy now. - Community Wine Reviews
