From the McLaren Vale, South Australia, d'Arenberg The Stump Jump 2020 has always been a customer favourite with its dark cherry, ripe raspberry, plum, nutty, earthy and savoury herb flavours. Dry and medium-plus-bodied, this vintage is a juicy red wine blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre and excellent value at $17. The wine label tells a story of Richard Bowyer Smith, who was a South Australian blacksmith and inventor of the stump-jump plough (able to plough tree roots) who also had poor eyesight, and the reason for the optometrist chart on the label.

Red Blend food pairings: burgers and ribs, tourtiere, meatloaf, grilled meats.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
