This full-bodied red wine has lip-smacking delicious aromas and flavours of black and purple fruit. Smooth and supple. Love the fact that this big shiraz is not filtered, giving us the full-on flavour experience. The grapes for this robust red wine come from vines 100 years old. The wine is open-fermented with wild yeast, then aged 18 months in French oak barrels, and is not fined nor filtered. Try is with lamb and rosemary.

Shiraz food pairings: grilled meats and vegetables, pizza, barbecued beef, bison steak, grilled or spice-rubbed chicken.

Bright red-purple. Black fruits on the nose with floral hints of violet and some black pepper. Blackberry, licorice and spicy flavors with hints of smoke and a full bodied rich mouthfeel. A long finish that carrys the fruit and spice well beyond the initial taste.

Would pair well with pork loin and figs or venison and a cherry sauce.

Made from 100-year old vines and hand picked then 18 months in largely used French oak.

Layered aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cassis, with black pepper and a slight earthiness. The blackberry and black pepper dominate the taste, Fine, firm tannins add to the structure and the acidity is quite high. A serious wine for a serious meal of rare red meat.

Old vines that still have new tricks! A bold red with loads ripe black plum, black cherry, blackberry, baking spices, and slight mint aromas and flavours. Smooth (light) tannins, luscious acidity, medium-full bodied and a long minted berry finish. This is a phenomenal value of a wine that would pair quite nicely with your favourite cut grilled steak.

This hand-harvested Barossa McLaren Vale Shiraz has a subtle ripe cassis nose. The palate shows cassis, raspberries, pepper and oak. It's full-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and a long peppery cassis finish. Try it and maybe you'll feel lion-hearted, too!

The 2012 vintage of Dandelion Vineyards Shiraz is referred to as the lionheart of the barossa, is 14.5% ABV, referenced as an heirloom ancient vineyard (some more than 100 year old vines) and artisan winemaking. 18 months maturation after hand-harvesting and sourced from some of the oldest soils on the planet. This wine shows aromas of ripe strawberry, black pepper, blackberry. On the palate, this wine shows red fruit and black peppercorn with complex herbal notes enmeshed with the spiciness of the essence of Barossa shiraz. Enjoy this wine with beef brisket, smoked meat, chilli con carne, vegetarian chilli or a gourmet lamb burger with blue cheese.

Deep ruby, blackberry, plum, pepper, eucalyptus and oak spice coming through with good intensity. Ripe fruit, with blackberry, cherry, plum on the palate along with some light minty and pepper notes. Lifted acidity maintains freshness here and tannins are well integrated. Striploin with cracked black pepper should play well with this. Drink over the next 5+ years. Tasted April 2015.

How could you not want to try a wine called 'Lionhearted of the Barossa'? Light purple/red in colour, this Shiraz has notes of spice and fruit on the nose. These flavours carry through to the long smooth finish. A steak, grilled peppers and this wine!

The wine is silky, creamy and long.

Excellent to match game birds.

Serve it at 15-17 degrees.

This robust Australian Shiraz is a blend of vine and vigneron with grapes sourced from heirloom vineyards. The winery encourages the growth of dandelions, normally seen as weeds to be eliminated. However, dandelions suppress winter weeds and provide mulch in the summer as well as their fluffy white Wishing Clocks in the spring to blow off and make wishes. Lionheart is named in honour of Carl Lindner whose gnarled old vines, some more than a hundred years old, provide the grapes for this wine. - Community Wine Reviews
