R & D from the Culmina Family Estate Winery is a juicy, medium-bodied Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc crowd-pleaser red wine blend that pays homage to Culmina co-owner Don Triggs and his twin brother, Ron as their pictures as boys are on the label. Love the smoky cherries and concentrated berry aromas on the nose with ripe dark cherry, blackberry, dried herbs, anise, black pepper, dark chocolate and smoky flavours on the palate. Aged in French and American oaked barrels. Pair with smoked, grilled meats.

Food pairings: roast chicken paprika with onion and herb stuffing, onion pie, roast brises chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Big and bold, deeply coloured, this wine is clearly from one of the world's warmest and finest grape growing regions. It sure is, just happens it's also one of the most northerly regions too...Canada's wine capital, Oliver, BC, and the outstanding Golden Mile Bench. A rich and robust Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot that shows the power, structure, and elegance found in fine Golden Mile Bench wines. Rich black fruit, plum, pepper, aromatic Black Sage, and scorched earth on the nose and palate. Dry, textured, and very well balanced, it's showing beautifully now with some age and will continue to shine over the next 5+ years. Tasted April 2020. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
From the Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Culmina R&D 2016 is a smoky, medium-plus-bodied red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes. Smoky on the nose with intense dark berry aromas, cedar spice, dried oregano, anise, vanilla and black pepper flavours silky on the palate. Pair with chicken Paprikash. - Community Wine Reviews
