Great value on this Ribera Del Duero red produced from 100% Tempranillo. Fermented in stainless steel, the wine was matured in oak for 19 months. This is a medium plus bodied, mouth-watering Tempranillo with rounded tannins. Pair with a sausage cassoulet.

Food pairings: mushroom risotto, beef stew, venison roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From the Ribera del Duero region in Spain, the 2012 Convento San Francisco is made from 100% of Tempranillo or commonly known in Spain as Tinta Del Pais. Crafted by the new Bodega “Winery” created in 1998, this wine offers lovely aromas of red cherry, fig, dried leaves and rose, parmesan cheese, cocoa, cigar box and oak. A pleasant Spaniard, with a long dried fruit finish, joined by a full body and great balance that demonstrate quality winemaking. The palate reveals sour cherry, dried blackberry, black pepper, tobacco, dill and dusty oak. Enjoy!
Convento San Francisco 2012 is a well-priced Ribera Del Duero red Crianza produced from 100% Tempranillo with aromas of ripe dark cherries on the nose, dried raisined fruit, fig, sweet tobacco leaf and cracked pepper flavours on the palate. Fermented in stainless steel, the wine was matured in oak for 19 months. Tannins are fine grained and there is good acidity on robust red for food. Enjoy now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
