Columbia Crest H3 2019 Merlot is great value at $20. A blend of mostly Merlot with 14% in Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is, dry, full-bodied and elegant with ripe dark plum, blueberry, savoury herbs, dark spices, cocoa and vanilla flavours plushy and fresh with a long plummy finish. Great now, pour it with a veal Porterhouse or equally juicy pork chops from the grill.

Merlot food pairings: grilled pork chops, pepper steak, duck, grilled lamb, cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Year after year, this is consistently great. Aromas of black plum and blackberry, forest floor with hints, mocha and a touch of black pepper. Full bodied, smooth on the palate, with soft tannin, and medium acidity. Dark berry flavours are rounded, plush, and smooth, with hints of mocha and spice on the finish. Enjoy with grilled meats. Enjoy!
Columbia Crest H3 2019 Merlot is great value at $20. A blend of mostly Merlot with 14% in Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is dry, full-bodied and vibrant with juicy blueberry, spiced plum, cloves and dried blue florals silky on the palate. Has a lovely dark chocolate finish. Tannins are rounded. Drink or hold. - Community Wine Reviews
