A full-bodied southern French red wine from the region of Cahors, with mocha-dark chocolate aromas from oak aging, and fleshy black fruit. Great for pizza. Finishes with dark spices. Pair with meat lovers' pizza tonight.

Food pairings: pizza (cheese), veal, beef, chicken herb-rubbed roast, hearty soups.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Dark plums and blackberries mixed with big earthy, smoky, mocha and dried herbs aromas. Flavours follow the nose but with more earthy, tobacco and coffee notes penetrating the palate. Smooth tannins, medium bold body, nicely integrated acidity and a luscious medium-long finish. Try pairing with some slow roasted beef brisket.
This robust Cahors red wine almost has some leanings toward Californian Zinfandel, but still is dark and smoky in a Cahors sort of way. Densely tannic and brooding: decant for 2 hours. Concentrated, powerful and highly extracted in flavour and colour. - Community Wine Reviews
