A surprisingly great Bordeaux from a touch vintage. Balanced, complex, concentrated and offering a long finish. Black fruit, toasty oak and tar. There are several different product codes for the exact same wine in this release.

Reviews and Ratings

Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Lovely minty cassis note jumping from the glass with great clarity! Tobacco leaf, root beer and touches are the supporting cast of this delightful nose. Very expressive despite it's youth. Full-bodied, with fine fruit density, very accessible and user-friendly for a classic top bordeaux, very juicy blackcurrant fruit throughout the palate with very fine grippy tannins and lead on the finish. Very classy wine made to give pleasure in its youth, and will certainly age as well. Keep up to 20 more years, and worth checking out now as well before it shuts down. 93 pts. Tasted Nov. 11th/2015.
This Bordeaux red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes hails from the heart of the Medoc region of Pauillac on the Left Bank of the Gironde River. Owner Alfred Tesseron has put the 2011 vintage of the Pontet-Canet in an engraved bottle that has some heft weight-wise. This is a fifth growth (5e Cru) from the prestigious 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines. Produced by Alfred Tesseron et Héritiers G. Tesseron. Firm tannins and a great cellar candidate. - Community Wine Reviews
