Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Pleasant wine from Vignobles Carreau, Chateau l’Escadre 2016 Grande Reserve, from Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux, offers aromas of red currant, fruitcake, violet, cocoa, baking spice and oak. The wine is full-bodied, with supple tannins and a well integrated finish. On the palate: Fresh and vibrant fruit of red plum and raspberry, black pepper, leather, spice, dill and cedar. Enjoy.
From the Côtes De Bordeaux - Blaye wine region, Château L'Escadre 2016 Grande Reserve is a great value Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec red wine blend under $20. Fragrant with violets, fresh blackberry and cedar spice aromas on the nose, rich with blackberry, crushed raspberry, savoury herb and sweet spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm. Decant one hour prior to pouring with a grilled venison filet mignon. The estate has been owned by the Carreau family since 1832. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
