A full-bodied Bordeaux red blend of mostly Merlot with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon adding body and structure to this dry, robust and made for a grilled steak or beef bourgignon. Lots of smoky, spiced plum, savoury herbs and cassis flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm.

Food pairings: coq au vins, beef bourguignon, cassoulet.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Located south of Saint-Foy La Grande in the Bordeaux region, Chateau La Verriere offers a solid and easy-drinking wine. The 2016 Chateau La Verriere is a well made wine that exposes the know-how of this family owned Chateau. Aromas of black plum, black cherry, black pepper, violet, leather, backing spice and oak. Made from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine offers a full body with well knit tannins and charming structure. The finish is just lengthy enough to appreciate the quality of the fruit. Palate: dark skin plum, tart cherry, tobacco leaf, leather, spice and oak. Enjoy!
Château La Verrière 2016 is a great value Bordeaux under $19. Produced by Alain Bessette & Jean-Louis Vinolo, this is a full-bodied 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon with ripe dark fruit, cassis, under brush, cocoa and smoky oak spice flavours on the palate. Pair with smoked and braised beef ribs. This vintage was awarded Gold at the 2018 Concours International de Lyon. - Community Wine Reviews
