This wine, a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes, is a river of blackberry liqueur concentration of flavour and pleasure. Full-bodied and rich and smooth. So satisfying. Drink it with the heartiest of meat dishes. For diehard hedonists. Incredibly long and aromatic finish. Wow!

Châteauneuf-Du-Pape food pairings: hearty meat dishes, barbecued chicken, char-grilled lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

This Châteauneuf-Du-Pape from the Rhône was created in memory of the Domaine's Founder, Baron Le Roy de Boiseaumarié and was first released in 2001. Château Fortia Cuvée Du Baron (2013) is a robust and rich red wine blend of 50% Syrah with 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre grapes. The wine was aged 18 months in old oak foudres. This very powerful and rich red is smooth with ripe red cherries, blackberry, raspberry and anise spice. Simply lovely and would pair well with a rare roast beef dinner. Drink now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
