Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

With all its pedigree, I thought I'd love this wine more. I tasted it two days running but the result was the same. Hubert de Boüard is one of the owners of famed St Emilion property: Chateau Angelus and this is his colab with an historic Bordeaux wine trader. In spite of it's very keen price for a Bordeaux (Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux)I found it to be under whelming on flavour and length. The good things were: the tannins were smooth, and there was a typical Bordeaux savouriness to it, like beef bouillon, but there was no 'wow' factor that made me finish the bottle.
From Côtes De Bordeaux - Castillon, Château De La Pierre Levée Révélations D'hubert De Boüard 2016 is a great value 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon red wine blend under $17. Look for bright, ripe strawberry, plum, blackberry and toasty oak flavours on the palate. The majority of the vines are in a single block surrounding the chateau in the area known as Bazille, in the commune of Salles-de-Castillon to the northwest of the appellation. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
