Reviews and Ratings
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: The 2016 vintage is clear, bright pale gold colour. Consistent with the 2015 vintage. 100% riesling from Columbia Valley, Washington State, USA. The wine shows off-dry, medium body, crisp, tangy and mouthwatering with medium acidity. Elegant and vibrant aromatics of crisp Granny Smith Apple, nectarine and orange blossom. Flavour intensity medium on the palate, showing similar nose with wet limestone minerality, lime zest. This wine is available at an accessible price point. Recommend pairing with spicy Szechuan, pad Thai or your favourite South Asian fare, such as vegan Indian. Tasted 2016 vintage in Feb 2018. 90 points.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: This Riesling is from the quirky, but reliable, Charles Smith Wine Company. It is 100% Riesling from Ancient Lakes viticultural area of Washington State. The vines grow in complex soils on the Western end of a river basin, near the town of Quincy. Pale lemon colour. Smells like really well-made Riesling. Pure, delicious, fragrant, and fruity. It does have a touch of residual sugar to it (maybe 15ish grams per litre?) It works, though, for a dry/off dry style. Lots of ripeness and acidity. Pure lemon juice, nectarine, lime amd zest, peapod, beeswax, and pear. The flavours are really nice and tropical. Loads of citrus and whote fruit. Mouthwatering and pretty ample; bigger and richer than this wine often is. This was a good vintage for Washington. Very few hiccups meant they were able to pick the grapes to maximize fresh acids without compromising ripeness. Washington shows some dazzling unique terroir on par with any on the West-Coast. It's one to watch. I am just enjoying the ride as these continue to be affordable. How long will it last? Who knows! Put this riesling with an authentic Mexican caesar salad or crab rolls.
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Very pale straw in colour with aromas of apricots, green apple, orange and white floral. It is off-dry, light bodied with medium acidity and has flavours of ripe peach, and green apple which lead into a long pleasant finish. This will pair well with Asian foods. Tasted on May 6, 2018.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Fresh peach and lime, a pretty straightforward Riesling. Medium body, medium acidity. A good, easy-going food wine that would go with a lot of dishes like poached chicken, tangy cheeses (aged gouda, cheddar), spicy dishes like dahl or saag paneer (my favourite!).
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: On the nose, there are peach and red apple aromas, with clementine, mineral notes and subtle hints of tropical fruit. On the palate, it has orchard fruit with clementine and a touch of lime with a bitter grapefruit finish. It is medium bodied, has fresh but gentle acidity, and a touch of sweetness. Tasted May 2018
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Aromas of apple and straw. Flavours of lemon and pear. Well balanced with good acidity. This off-dry wine would pair well with spicy food to cut the spiciness. Tasted May 7, 2018
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Ripe peach and apricot with orange blossom jump out of the glass. Medium bodied with medium acidity and a long, ripe stone fruit finish. Suggested pairing: spicy Indian. Tasted May 06, 2018.
