Reviews and Ratings

Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Made of Marsanne 100%!

Beautiful golden color with notes of grapefruits, citrus, herb, butter and banana!

The wine is crisp, complex and long on the palate!

Pair it with a scallop ceviche or with goat cheese, it's excellent!

Serve it at 10-12 degrees.

Can be aged 6-7 years!
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Being woken-up by a singing Lark perhaps symbolizes the way one gets woken-up by the first taste of this beautiful Hermitage white. Chante-Alouette, a biodynamic wine, made from 100% Marsanne (note: Chapoutier only works with Marsanne, never Roussanne, in his white Hermitage wines), it displays a delicate nose of honey, herbs, nutty notes, and lees. On the palate, layers of light honey, spice, nutty flavours, white tea, with subtle tannins, leading to a long refreshing mineral finish. Complex, refined, and balanced. Chante-Alouette is a must try, and a guaranteed like! Tasted November 2014. 92-93 points. Matt Steeves - @QuercusVino
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

100% Marsanne (sans Rousanne) and only 25% aged in Oak barrels. "Don't like wine to smell like Pinocchio's nose." A Michele Chapoutier truism. This certainly is a Premium white Hermitage. Deep lemon colour exhibiting an oily texture on the glass. Tea leaves, fresh herbs, citrus, vanilla, almond oil, blossoms, honey. The mouthfeel is creamy and elegant. Great fresh acidity. These wines have been known to age is to 100 years! Great for the wine collector on your shopping list.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A hand-harvested white made from 100% Marsanne varietal. A light green-golden yellow colour, with delicate herbal aromas and palate showing quince, ginger, vervain, linden flower and touch of honey. An unforgettable dry, crisp and mouth-watering mouthfeel with high acidity. Very long finish with a touch of almond .
This is a wine that you could cellar for up to 100 years…but why not enjoy it sooner?
Martha Kelly AIWS - CS rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Elegant and expressive this Marsanne has pronounced flavours of citrus, honeysuckle, almond, herbs de Provence, and a touch of spice and vanilla. The rich mouth-feel is balanced by the refreshing acidity. This wine has long length on the warming finish.
Pair with strong cheese or fish in cream/herb sauce.
Drink now or cellar until 2024 and beyond.
Date tasted: November 2014.
