Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Joseph Drouhin was a daring and enterprising young man.
In 1880, at the age of 22, he moved from Chablis to Beaune, founded his own wine company and for the last 130 years, Maison Joseph Drouhin has remained in the family.
Generations succeeding him established a vineyard domaine for the House, purchased land in some outstanding appellations such as Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot, gave the domaine its present dimension and acquired many vineyards, especially in the Côte de Nuits and Chablis areas.
Today, the domaine is one of the largest estates in Burgundy. More than 2/3 of the vineyards are classified as Premiers Crus and Grands Crus. With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations.
As in all Chablis Grands Crus, this wine is comprised of 100% Chardonnay. The vines are an average of 37 years of age and come from “Les Clos” (enclosure in English), the largest and probably the most famous Grand Cru site of the region. Long ago recognized by Medieval monks as a superb location for planting a vineyard, it is truly the cradle of Chablis!
In the glass, it is a bright, very pale silvery yellow.
On the nose, it is open and vibrant with minerality, like wet stone after a summer rainfall aromas, lemon zest, acacia honey and spring flowers.
On the palate, it is exquisitely charming! There is no sign of residual sugar, it is zesty, minerally, flinty with a thirst quenching acidity and a long finish.
This is the wine to accompany juicy oysters or Peruvian, sea bass ceviches!

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
