Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Good dark red-purple typical of Malbec. Jammy blackberry and plum aromas. Good ripeness and acidity with jammy dark fruit flavours. Some moderate tannins will help this wine stand up to pork with a dark berry reduction or a nice beef dish.
Sally reviewed this wine as follows:

Malbec lovers take note, everything you enjoy about this varietal is right here, crushed blueberries, blackberries and plums, fine minerality and a smooth finish with sweet baking spices and soft leather. Made with fruit from the Catena’s family Nicasia vineyard located in Argentina`s Paraje Altamira appellation at 3593 feet in elevation. This wine saw 5 days of cold maceration, 16 days fermentation and 10 days of post-fermentation maceration before ageing 12 month in a combination of 85% French and 15% American oak of which 35% was new. This is a structurally balanced wine and might just find itself on the table beside dry-rubbed ribs with roasted peppers and grilled haloumi.

From the Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, Cantena Paraje Altamira Malbec 2016 is spot on. A perfect balance of dark berry fruit, earthy florals, smoky vanilla and mocha flavours on the palate with a mouth-watering finish. Enjoy now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
