Savoury, dark and complex with a chewy, full-bodied mid-palate. Layers of black fruit with a long finish. Superbly crafted for this price. Great structure and persistence of flavours on the finish. Terrific value.

Carmenere food pairings: lamb, pasta, venison, char-grilled burgers, tamarind-marinated steaks.

Reviews and Ratings

Caryl Mostacho rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Nice bold full bodied red but easy drinking. Goes really well with paired with steak. Value is great.
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2011 Carmen Gran Reserva (100%) Carmenère , aged in French oak for 10 months, has appealing aromas of green pepper, yeasty red currant, pomegranate and black cherry. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine, with forward acidity, refined tannins and a medium finish. It is a food friendly wine; drink for the next 5+ years. My impression: NICE, 89 pts. Darlene Myers - CAPS Student rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

I found this wine to be good value with it's fruity aromas and flavors of plum jam, chocolate, spices and nuances of toasted oak. This wine would pair well with a variety of meats including ribs, lamb and beef.
King rated this wine as 85/100
Fantastic aromas of pipe tobacco, dark chocolate, dark and sour cherry, bramble, hickory and cloves. The palate is robust, smooth and ripe. Offers an excellent contrast of dark and lifted fruit with a smoky undercurrent. This is a brilliant example of Carmenère as it can and should be. Bravo. Built for barbecued meats.
