Burrowing Owl 2020 Merlot is lush and full-bodied with dark cherry, ripe blueberry and spiced plum flavours juicy and concentrated on the palate. The hand-harvested Merlot grapes enjoyed a three-day cold soak and a long maceration during the 28 days that the wine fermented. It was aged 14 months in a combination of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels (21% new) giving a lovely, lush and elegant wine from the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia.

Merlot food pairings: grilled pork chops, meat stuffed Portobello mushrooms, grilled veal chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lush, satiny and bursting with flavour. The lovely nose gives Damson plums, blueberries and cloves, then the palate adds vanilla and more spicy notes with a gorgeous sandlewood aspect. The mouthfeel is silky smooth and the tannins are soft . An elegantly balanced wine with a delicious long finish, too. This would pair perfectly with roast pork or a mushroom risotto.
