Natalie's Score: 92/100 The history of the Boutari winemaking, now in the fifth generation, in the small Greek town of Naoussa in 1879. The grape variety they planted was Xinomavro. This robust, complex and distinguished wine has a long life ahead of it if you wissh to cellar it. Aromas of black fruit and smoke. Pair with grilled meats.

Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: A special single-vineyard production in honour of the history of Boutari. Brick-hued with big, enticing aromas - raisin, spice, clove, dried cherry and a funkiness that I had a hard time pinpointing (like well-used leather sandals?) but Boutari describes as tomato juice, and it is! Very V8! Notes of sherry and lingering tobacco leaf coated with some wicked, huge stemmy tannins, brilliant! Couldn't put this one down. Great with smoked blue cheese, charcuterie, rare lamb chops and the like.
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: Dark, translucent ruby colour. Intense, stewed black fruit and ripe blueberry aromas, underscored by violets and subtle spice. Fresh, full-bodied and velvetty smooth on the palate. Very concentrated mid-palate; with black fruits, leafy and leather nuances. Long, layered finish. Moderately firm tannins.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: Wow! A special wine. Allow your taste buds to sink into and beyond the dull garnet sheen. This is a wine to be reconciled with for it's intensity, complexity and the experience on the nose and palate. Declared 14% ABV. Amazing depth, fantastic intensity of fruit aromatics, great structure. Well balanced, high fruit, high tannins and suitable acidity. Appasimento - esque in its depth, body, richness with old world charm. Dried figs, Italian leather, sun dried tomato, sweet black olive and tobacco leaf. This wine is unique and a fantastic experience all around. Pairs well with braised BBQ beef or pork tacos and is fantastic on it's own. Accessible rich and lovely taste profile. Priced accessibly likewise. Tasted the 2007 vintage in March 2017. Showing very well. 93 points
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review: Aromas of cooked plums, leather, earth, cassis, and chocolate. Dry, bold tannins with lovely spicy cherry finish.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Black cherry, herbs, plum skin, black tea, and tar. 91 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Medium garnet with aromas of plum, brambles, baking spices, cigar box, and violets. Grippy tannins, medium acidity, and a silky red cherry flavour. This could probably use a few years of aging to tame the tannins, but it's quite a nice introduction to higher-end Greek wines. Pair with charcuterie, rare red meats, or smoked meat.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: If this is what all Greek wines taste like I'm booking my flight to Greece tomorrow. This is a 100% Xinomavro wine from the Boutari family, named in honour of John Boutari and the year the company was establshed in Naoussa. The colour is that of a wine that is starting to age but the contents are anything but. Layers of aromas, smoke, cigar and cooked dark fruits. Tannins are smooth and acidity nicely balanced. A full bodied wine with a long finish that comes from spending 12 months in french oak. I paired this with a charcuterie platter that included some smoked blue cheese and it was memorable. Tasted March 20, 2017.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Dark brick colour with luscious aromas of mincemeat pie, raisin, fig with sweet spice. Grippy tannins and long finish with dark, dried fruit on the palate. Pair with cured meats. Tasted March 2017.
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows: Deep brown color. Aromas of spice, licorice, raspberry and cherry. This wine is rigid, complex and very long. This 2007 can be aged 8-10 years. Pair it with BBQ
