A superbly balanced, robust Cabernet from Israel. Firm tannins, so age in the cellar a few more years then decant 1-2 hours and pair with rare steak. Aromas of fleshy black fruit and toasty oak. This wine was aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. This wine is kosher for Passover.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: roast chicken, grilled lamb chops, gourmet burger.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Big juicy aromatics on the nose. On the palate, showing slightly stemmy bitterness, with notes of pomegranate pith over a blackberry core. Full bodied, medium acidity. Declared an “exceptional reserve” on the bottle. I’d recommend tasting next year’s vintage. Tasted 2014 vintage decanted 2h in March 2018. 85 points
Barkan, the second-largest winery in Israel, sources the grapes for its Reserve Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in the mountainous Upper Galilee region. This is a Kosher for Passover Product. The wine is full-bodied, with ripe raspberry, dark cherry and nutty (from oak treatment) on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews
