From Bodegas Balbás, Ardal Crianza 2014 is a robust red blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 14 months in American oak barrels. Deep and dark red in the glass, this is a big wine with aromas of fig, plum, parmesan cheese, cigar box; dry and toasty with ripe dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, smoky toasty oak spice, vibrant acidity and firm tannins. Decant two hours prior to pouring with a juicy roast beef.

Crianza food pairings: pork short ribs braised in red wine sauce, pork shoulder roast with cherry red currant and wine sauce, pork schnitzel.

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The Ardal from Bodegas Balbas, located in Ribera Del Duero in Spain, exposes a pleasant bouquet of fig, dried blackberry, dried rosemary, pastrami, parmesan cheese, tobacco, coca and oak. Blended from 80% Tempranillo and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 vintage delivers a full body, refined tannins and light acidity. The finish is well layered and shows great quality. Palate: sour cherry, fig, mustard seed, parmesan cheese, cinnamon and cedar. Delicious wine. Enjoy!
