This smoky, toasty, robust French bubbly offers baked bread and some apple notes. Very refreshing and crisp sparkling wine. Great price. A terrific bubbly from the southern French region of Languedoc-Roussillon. "Blanquette" is the Occitan word for Mauzac, the regional white wine grape used to made Crémant bubblies in Limoux, which has in fact been producing sparkling wine since the sixteenth century. It's rare for this southern French sparkling wine to be made in a single vintage style. Take advantage of this opportunity. Finishes with great finesse and freshness. Finishes with a lime citrus lift. Pair with fresh seafood or shellfish.

Blanquette De Limoux food pairings: pulled pork sammies, grilled meats in a black bean sauce, beef and root vegetable stew.

Dry, mineral, lees, toasty, delicious! A great vintage bubbly to have on-hand for those impromptu celebrations that command a sparkling wine. Highly recommended for the price. Tasted September 2015. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
