Mouth-filling and viscous. Here's a terrific example of a medium-sweet Gewurztraminer that would be divine with a spice-inflected fruit-based dessert. Come-alive notes of peach jam and baking spices. Gorgeously rich and concentrated with cinnamon-spiced peach preserves and spicy apple pie aromas.

Gewurztraminer food pairings: pear and saffron upside down cake, lemon custard and almond biscotti, apple cinnamon dumplings.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

An intricate Alsatian Gewurtztraminer from a defined family Estate - Andre Blanck. A pretty gold colour with a vibrant, fruity bouquet. Apricots, peaches, pears, melon, apples blossoms and caramel. Flavours are zingy with crisp yellow apple, lime citrus and vanilla laden pineapple. Unique and dynamic. Medium acidity and supple sweet body.
(29g/L) Accompanied with sweet spices carrying into the medium minus finish. Delicious! Great pairing for sweet and sour shrimp or spicy teriyaki chicken. 91 points
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 63/100 with the following review:

Top-notch Gewürztraminer. This parcel is near the Grand Cru of Furstentum, northwest of Colmar.
Nice colour, intimating it will have a deep, golden hue in the future. Rich and glass-coating.
Aromas of Lychee, candied ginger, and peach. Super aromatic. Actually, if you don't overchill it, you get quite a bit more spice.
Flavpurs of stone fruit confiture, vanilla creme, fuji apple, ginger, lychee, guava, and some subtle dried banana.
Off dry, fullish bodied, slightly lower in acodoty than I expected, but still quite nice.
Put this wine with rillettes, munster, and poultry with onions.
Altenburg is a great example of a medium-sweet, mouth-coating and long length Alsatian Gewurztraminer with flavours of rose petal, lychee, ripe stonefruit and a touch of spice. Pair with mild curries. -- still so very yummy! The estate has been family-owned and operated for seven generations. - Community Wine Reviews
