Incredible depth of colour with purple hues to a dark deep red. Nose of dark chocolate, licorice and raspberry with hints of lavender. Intense red berry fruits with ripe blackberries and rhubarb infused with spice and rich vanilla. Soft palate with optimal balance.

Darlene Myers rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I think this was the first Old Vine Shiraz I have ever tried, and it won me over. Gorgeous fruits and aromas of eucalyptus and spice. It was structured on the palate with good tannins and a hint of chocolate. It was balanced, fruity and spicy and I really like this wine. A wine I would definitely buy again.
Jason Solanki rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

2010 vintage. This is a big wine with aromas of ripe dark fruits, blueberry, violet and lavender. Lovely blueberry with hints of coffee and vanilla on the palate. Full-bodied. Drinkable now, but has enough tannic grip to let sit for another 2-3 years. Tasted May/2012.

Natalie's Review

Grant Burge Filsell Old Vine Shiraz 2008, Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia: A solid and delicious full-bodied red with meaty notes and dark fruit. The flavours persist on your palate and I like how they’ve woven in the oak subtly. This wine won a Gold Medal and the Trophy for Best Shiraz at the 2010 Perth Royal Wine Show. Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
