Jennifer Havers rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Lovely blend, made from 56% Syrah, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, and12% Petit Verdot. Aromas of currant, cherry, and dark plums with notes of mocha, eucalyptus and warm spicy hints. Full bodied, bright on the palate with grippy tannins, lots of dark, juicy ripe fruit, and notes of black pepper. Enjoy with rustic lentil or mushroom dishes, or a rich prime rib.

Natalie's Review

L'Aventure Winery Optimus Estate 2018, Willow Creek District, Paso Robles, California, United States: The L’Aventure Optimus 2018 is a rich and robust red wine blend of mostly Syrah, with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that’s aged for over a year in 70% new French oak barrels. It features dark florals, ripe red berries, and toasty oak. It’s luscious and full-bodied, with some lingering notes of dark pepper on the finish. I’d pair this with a pepper steak or Porterhouse, grilled beef sliders or slow braised lamb shanks with coriander, fennel and star anise. This would make for a spectacular gift. Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
