Rebecca Meir-Liebman rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This semi-sweet Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley is a rare find for Canadian oenophiles. Produced by the same family – Moulin Touchais – who founded the winery in 1787, the wine is smoothly sweet, but not cloyingly so. With a residual sugar of 80-90 g/l – ice wine’s residual sugar sits at between 150-225 g/l – this wine is fresh, with notes of wet stone, minerality, quince, lily and brioche bread.
This un-oaked wine is produced with late-harvest Chenin Blanc grapes and naturally fermented in concrete, epoxy-lined tanks. Bottle-aged a minimum of 10 years before it’s released, this structurally sound wine boasts an outstanding aging potential of at least 70 years! This is a fantastic, less-sweet alternative to the famous Sauternes, and considerably less expensive.
Savour it with semi-sweet desserts and sorbets; appetizers with a hint of sweetness, such as foie gras with raspberry coulis on brioche; fruit pies and fruity salads.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful deep golden yellow with a watery edge, lots of honey, melon, pear, pineapple, vanilla, smoke with a touch of honeysuckle. Warmth from the alcohol. Lovely dessert sipper or rich, sweet/spicy dishes.

Natalie's Review

Moulin Touchais Coteaux De Layon Chenin Blanc 1996, AC Estate Btld, Loire, France: Vintages Wine Panel: This ‘moelleux’ (semi-sweet) Chenin Blanc is built to last. Moulin Touchais ages it 10 years before release and it can keep in your cellar for 50 to 100 years. This 1996 is a mere youngster. Ready to drink now, it will gain a more caressing mouth-feel, complexity and depth over time. My note: Opens with ripe melon, pineapple and other tropical fruit. Full-bodied but not heavy. The slight sweetness makes it all the richer and able to marry with dishes that have a touch of sweetness or spiciness. 707307 13.50% MS 750 mL  $37.95 Score: 91/100. February 14, 2009  Full Review
