Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

I love wines that intrigue me -- like this 100% Gamay 2022 from Lunessence Vineyard and Winery. First off it is a brilliant, if not fluorescent, medium ruby dusty in the glass. Grapes for this wine were organically grown, hand-harvested and sorted, foot trodden, wild-fermented, and after spontaneous MLF, the wine rested on its lees for over nine months in neutral French oak barrels. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

A perfect, dry, medium-bodied and lighter-style red for summer, it is showing medium-intensity aromas of liquid cherry, raspberry, red plum, light spice, herbal and a bit of underbrush funk (in a good way) on the nose. But then, it opens up on the palate with baked cherry pie, plum, cracked pepper, fine herbs and menthol flavours mouth-watering and savoury with a long finish on a mineral note.

Juicy, with great acidity for food, do chill it up to bring out its fresh fruity flavours and pour it with either a mushroom risotto, wild mushroom bisque, roast duck or quail stuffed with Chanterelle mushrooms. Tasted July 2024.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
