Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Can Pinot Noir be powerful, lush and elegant? Astrolabe 2018 PN is! Fragrant with pink florals, earthy violets and dark cherry aromas, this velvet-gloved Marlborough PN is plushy and rich with dark cherry, crushed raspberry, earthy florals; but elegant and intricate as well with ripe red berry, dried herbs, cold black tea, baking and pepper spice flavours supple, silky and balanced with fresh acidity and velvety textured tannins lingering on the palate. Truly elegant and beautifully expressive. Tasted April 2024.

Astrolabe Marlborough Pinot Noir is produced from a variety of Pinot Noir clones from vines grown in the Waihopai and Brancott Valleys in the Wairau’s Southern Valleys wine region as well as farther south to Awatere valley and the southern Kekerengu Coast. Astrolabe is so named after the ship that charted and explored the Marlborough Coast in 1827.

Natalie's Review

Astrolabe Pinot Noir 2018, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: Produced from sustainably grown grapes from the Marlborough wine region. Dry, medium-bodied and wrapped up in mouth-watering acidity, this Pinot Noir is so juicy and generous now with pink florals, dark cherry, spiced plum, baking and toasty oak spice flavours with textured tannins on the palate. Drink or hold. Food-friendly, to be enjoyed with grilled pork or juicy lamb chops from the grill. Drink: 2024-2028. 538918 14.50% XD 750 mL  $31.95 Score: 93/100. January 31, 2024 Top Rated Red Wine. There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
