L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep purple coloured wine, with a pronounced aroma and taste of raspberry, black plum, and blackberry with chocolate and smoky notes and a hint of pepper. Dry, medium plus acidity, medium tannin and medium body. The wine paired very well with rosemary and thyme torta and old cheddar, and smoked beef. A pleasure to drink on its own or with food. It likes rosemary!
Ghislain Lalonde rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

MBF, MG92(5) n 1802 Les Poyeux was cited as one of the premier crus of Saumur and to this day is a reference terroir, known locally as "the gold mine.” The hill rests on shallow tufa chalk soils and this silly amazing value by Cave Robert Marcel is indeed a reference point for the appellation by way of its collective fruit gathered from the six winegrowers of the locality Les Poyeux. Long and slow maceration (22 days) extracts all the positives and nary a negative bitter or as astringent note. Dry as it gets, pure, fluid and so beautifully franc. Drink 2022-2025. Tasted November 2022

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
