Jennifer Havers rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Rhone region winemaking, this wine blends Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cournoise. Deeply flavoured, showing ageabilty but also palatable to drink while young too. Aromas of dark cherry, warm spices, dark florals and tobacco hints. Medium bodied, soft tannins, with balanced acidity and a lengthy finish. Enjoy with lamb or duck. Inspired by Rhone region winemaking, the Bonny Doon Cigar Volant 2020 is blended from 31% Cinsault, 24% Syrah, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cournoise. This red offers aromas blackberry jam, black olive and black pepper, and delivers polished tannins, balanced acidity and a dry finish. Palate: red berry, fruitcake, lavender and spice. Great aging potential. Enjoy.

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Bonny Doon has chosen to replace the 'M' in GSM with Cinsault so the wines can be enjoyed young. Cigar Volant 2020 is 42% Grenache, 31% Cinsault and 24% Syrah with touches of Petit Verdot and Counoise. The Cinsault is doing its job as far as lending a floral note and a hint of smoke aromas over a pure dried raspberry base. The palate is silky and well balanced; not quite as fruity and complex as the nose might suggest. All over pleasant and would be a great choice for rack of lamb and even salmon. thewineloverskitchen.com Tasted April 2022
