Jennifer Havers rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This is a lovely wine made only in special years. Aromas of black cherry, raspberry, raisins, graphite, dried sage and tea, along with woodsmoke, hints of underbrush and leather. Medium bodied on the palate with vibrant acidity, and light, chalky tannins, and a ton of vibrant dark fruit, along with more graphite and spicy hints on the palate. Notes of smoke and spice carry through on a lengthy finish. Perfect to enjoy with a roasted leg of lamb or duck. Tons of flavour, wonderfully balanced. Enjoy!
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A very rich and structured Chianti at 14.5%, this wine is 80 % Sangiovese, 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. Taste of cherry, red fruit, herbs and well balanced oak. Decant or age. Pair with steak, lamb or tomato-based Italian dishes.

Natalie's Review

Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2017, Tuscany D.O.C.G., Italy: Sangiovese wine grapes with some Merlot and Colorina added to the mix. The 2017 Chianti came from a hot vintage with drought conditions. Higher elevation vineyards did enjoy some cooling breezes overnight giving some relief to the grapes and balance to the wine. This example is intense with dark fruit, clove, anise, dark cherry, grilled wild herbs and smoky flavours on the palate with balanced acidity to match. Pour with a meat-lover's pizza. There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
