Wayne Gretzky winemakers are making sure that Canada is well covered to taste his wines! Not only are there wines made in Niagara, Ontario but the "Great One" has branched out to British Columbia's Okanagan!
This is an almost equally balanced dry blend of Cabernet Franc (55%) and Syrah (45%). On the nose there are notes of earth, menthyl, sour cherry, black pepper and black fruit that is fairly ripe. Flavours of sour cherry, black currant and that bite of black pepper. The tannins are smooth with medium acidity and a medium finish.
Pair with some bbq sauce slathered ribs and visions of travel to the beautiful Okanagan Valley! Tasted February 2021

Deep ruby coloured wine, dry and with supple tannin and balanced acidity. The nose opens with an earthy , leathery aroma and evolves to include wet stone, black currant, black cherry, green peppers and black pepper. Predominant flavour is smoky earthiness, with coffee, green peppers, black pepper and black fruit. Paired well with steak grilled with crushed peppercorns and rosemary.

A smokey screen veils a cherry and raspberry nose with spice and vanilla. The full bodied wine is fruit forward leading to a finish of cherry, tobacco and cedar. The dry tannins give this wine structure and weight to suit big meaty dishes, or portabella mushrooms.

Enjoyable med-bodied Cab Franc/Syrah with aromas of blackberry, cherry and cedar. Ripe fruit, oaky notes and tannins open up in the mouth making a pleasant tasting experience. Great mix of flavours- chocolate, spice, dark fruit and coffee- nice complexity. Recommend pairing with med-rare bacon cheeseburger. Tasted Feb 2021

The Cabernet Franc Syrah 2018, from the Wayne Gretzky Estates, offers aromas of sour cherry, red plum, chili pepper, wet gravel and sweet tobacco. Harvested in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, this medium-bodied wine delivers supple tannins and acidity, with a dry finish. Palate: tart plum, cherry, dried herbs, coca and cedar. Enjoy.

From Wayne Gretzky Estates’ Okanagan Valley, a blend of Similkameen and Okanagan Valley locally grown Cabernet Franc (55%) and Syrah (45%). Slightly spicy aromas with blackberry, red cherry and smoky cedar. Flavours are bright with continued red fruit, sweet smoke and lingering earthy spices that offer a hint of heat. Medium bodied, with medium backbone of acidity and a tannic structure that follows suit. This will complement a variety of foods. Try it with beef and pepper medley stir-fry. Cheers! - tasted February 2021

88/100 with the following review:
This red blend offered up attractive aromas of ripe red berries - especially cherry, raspberry and cassis – lightly touched with seasoning spices, wood smoke and dark chocolate. These scents mingled well with appealing flavours reminiscent of ripe red berries and cracked pepper corns.
Crafted in British Colombia’s renowned Okanagan Valley appellation and super dry, this mid-weight cabernet franc syrah also showed silky tannins and a long fruit focussed finish. Serve with spaghetti squash topped with herbed tomato sauce accented with mushroom, zucchini and meat balls. Enjoy.

A great BBQ wine, smoky and smooth. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, smoke and spice. Full bodied, smooth with some medium tannins, and medium acidity. Fruit is ripe and jammy on the palate with a smoky finish. Enjoy with any grilled meats.
