A moreish, quaffable, juicy wine with very smooth and soft tannins. Full of flavour but not heavy, it is the perfect mid week wine or great at a party. Try with lamb burgers with halloumi cheese and fresh chilli @wrightwineblog

This medium bodied Malbec is a good value at under $10 for your end of summer BBQs. Expect aromas and flavours of blackberry, black cherry, black currant, and spice with quite high acidity and moderate tannins. Finishes with a bit of herbaceous note. Pair it up with hearty fare like grilled sausage with sweet pepper, mushrooms, and onions. No need to hold this one; drink now. 3.5 stars out of 5.

Bodega Toro is celebrating 124 years of wine making with the motto 'wine made by the workers for the workers.' The Toro Centenario , which is now available in Ontario's LCBO stores, fits the bill perfectly. It is highly approachable and highly quaffable! It has inviting, rich red fruits on the nose with hints of clove and mushroom. The fruit carries over to the palate and extends through the finish as well. Medium to full bodied with fine, sandy tannins. Centenario has enough body to enjoy with beef BBQ but is supple and easy enough to sip on its own. This versatility may account for Bodega Toro enjoying the largest market share in Argentina with one in five glasses of wine consumed coming from them! Now that this value wine has hit our shelves you may want to consider it for your house red! Enjoy with grilled beef kebabs, grilled vegetable pizza or charcuterie. Great Argentinian Malbec - balanced acidity with notes of plum, blackberry + spice. It had some smoke + earthy notes on the palate. It paired quite well with our smoked ribs. For under $10, we would buy again!

The medium purple colour to the core hints at the jammy sweet nose of black fruit, predominantly blackberries and blueberries. The palate reveals a medium bodied dry wine with balanced acidity to cut through the fat of a nice steak. The soft tannins and lots of blueberry and plum on the palate. There are hints of spice and a bit of leather. A slightly hot medium finish. A great value wine that will match with more than the ubiquitous steak. Will go well with meat, fatty fish or vegetables off the bbq.

In Argentina the “Asado” barbecue is a cultural tradition of slowly grilling meat over hot coals. The result is delicious tender smoky flavoured meat.
This Malbec from the Mendoza region is the perfect pairing. Medium bodied with blackberry and plum on the nose and palate. Medium soft tannins and an underlying smoke that enhances the flavours of bbq’d meats.
I paired my bottle with a smoked beef brisket done on my Big Green Egg and a holiday long weekend. It doesn’t get much better than that! Tasted May 16/2020
Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as
87/100 with the following review:
A visually pleasant Malbec with beautiful ruby reflections. On the nose, it has juicy black cherry, plum, and ripe strawberry aromas along with violet, leather, herbs, cinnamon and a touch of dark cocoa.
On the palate, it is full bodied with flavours of tart plum, ripe cherry, sun soaked strawberry, and a long toasty and slightly bitter finish. The tannins are present yet subtle and well integrated. This wine would pair well with lamb served with mint jelly, or with herbed beef or lamb brochettes.

An edgy, robust Malbec from Argentina’s famous Mendoza vineyards. Shows lots of ripe plum and dark raisin fruit along with smoke and a touch of mocha. Grippy tannins. The Malbec varietal is one of my favourite full bodied reds because it’s so flavourful and versatile with food. Great match for grilled lamb, BBQ ribs, burgers or Mesquite potato chips. Keep this one on hand for all those upcoming barbeques! 87 pts. Tasted May 2020

Deep purple wine with a pronounced aroma of ripe plum, sweet red cherry, strawberry, maraschino cherry and a floral note (violet). A dry medium bodied wine, with short to medium length finish, that has balanced acidity and tannin. Lots of plum. red cherry, and maraschino cherry in the mouth. Very pleasant to drink on its own and will pair well with grilled lamb chops marinated in olive oil and rosemary.
